Jesse Feeback was a Union soldier in Company G. 7th Kentucky Cavalry under Captain’s Robert Scott and Felix G. McCrea, 1st Lieutenant James W. Brewer. (page 190, “The Union Regiments of Kentucky by Captain Thos. Speed.
Elam Mills, Co. H, 7th Illinois Infantry, was wounded at the battle of Shiloh, where his Lieutenant Leo Wash Myres and Private John H. Duff were killed.
Joseph A. Wilson, Co. G, 115th Indiana Infantry served from August 13, 1863 to February 1864.
William Conway, Company D, 147th Indiana Infantry is listed as “William Conoway” from Connersville, Indiana, mustered in on February 15, 1865 and mustered out on July 17, 1865. The regiment lost 44 enlisted men by disease.
John Stephenson, Company C, 5th Missouri State Militia Cavalry. The regiment was stationed at Harrisonville, MO, from March 1862 to June 1863 and lost one officer and 47 enlisted men to death due to Illinois or accidents, 21 men were killed or mortally wounded in action. Their commander, Colonel William A. Pennick was quoted in August 14, 1862 – “It is next to impossible to fight these guerrillas on their own ground in the brush, where they have every advantage over us. We must make it unhealthy for the neighborhoods where they harbor to allow them to remain among them without giving information to us.” (cited Nosworthy, The Bloody Crucible of Courage: Fighting Methods and Combat Experience of the Civil War [New York, Carroll & Graf Publishers, 2003]) pages 332-335.)
